Beaches Art Exhibit Artist Interviews…A and Z (well…A and X!)

Iam on hiatus from blogging, hosting etc…
However Second Life doesn’t sleep.
There is always something going on!
So go explore, Iam enjoying it!

Ce Soir Arts - Be inspired tonight!

The BEACHES Art Exhibit is proving to be one of the most intriguing ones we’ve had in some time. Interest is high and we’ve enjoyed encounters with many visitors – a few of whom have left notes in the Guest Book. We so appreciate those comments, as they can be quite important to us as owners and curators of Côte de la Mer Galerie and to the artists who exhibit with us. If you come by, consider leaving your thoughts…and we thank you!

Today, I will post the interview questions responses from two of the artists exhibiting – from both ends of the alphabet! Of course, Æon is my favourite person in all the world, but I am finding that he has a natural talent for in-world photography. It is yet new, but blossoming, and I am enjoying his photos, even those he takes casually at events or locations we…

loves to wander in all worlds.

35067731704_a2173c22c4_b

“Cybele love stories.  She is drawn to both history and myth. “The Siren’s Bones” is inspired by the Celtic (and Icelandic) legend of the Selkie. “Tales of the Caravanserai” is based on travels through North Africa, and The Sacrifice of Smoke Jaguar is inspired by a journey through Central America.”

“In real life she photographs both dreamy landscapes and old stones, sometimes using an infrared camera. Her photos have been sold in art shops and displayed in a museum gallery – as well as a few galleries in the virtual world.”

“I have a mix of SL and RL in my photos. For me, there is only a fine line between perception and vision, and my work is constantly changing and evolving.”

Inara Pey once said:

“On first encountering Hana’s (Cybele’s) work, I was amazed by its ethereal power and beauty,  Her art is often a wonderful mix of the physical and the virtual, the two enticingly mixed to present not so much an image, but a tale; a place where the line between our perception of what is real and what is a dream becomes blurred, the two fading seamlessly into one another.  Her blogs and story writing are a joy to read.”

Gamine des rues

“Late afternoon was Cybele’s favourite time. She loved to be with her grandmother. Often when her mother had locked her out she would go over to Mamie’s small flat. It was very dim inside the hallway and Cybele would take the key from Mamie’s hiding place, ride the lift and quietly open the door. She often found Mamie lying on the sofa with all the curtains drawn. Her grandmother suffered from migraine headaches. They were exacerbated by worry about her granddaughter running around the streets after school like a homeless waif. Mamie’s irresponsible daughter had all but abandoned the poor child. Little more than a child herself when she gave birth to Cybele, she had decided to pursue a career as a cabaret singer in Montmartre.’…….”

Hope to see you at the opening

“One Tree Hill”

Joshua Tree Project

at LEA7 exhibiting through August 31st

by Karma Avedon

After reading about this Lea Build in Strawberry Sing’s blog, her Friday finds post here I had to go see it.

I Love music so a sim that was basically a stroll through U2’s album The Joshua Tree, YES!

34861498124_b55ddae5c9_b

I mean who wasn’t impressed with this Album when it came out?

It was Poignant then and still is today!

U2 umm yeah omg! U2 is currently touring!

“I was interested in the miner’s strike politically, but I wanted to write about it on a more personal level. The untold story of the coal strike is the number of family relationships that either broke down or were put under great strain. That was the final blow.” – Bono, NME 1987

The Joshua tree on Lea sims

From the notecard at the sim:

“Welcome to “One Tree Hill” – A virtual journey into the sounds and lyrics of U2’s 1987 album, The Joshua Tree.

Why that album?

“it struck me how this particular album, U2’s “The Joshua Tree” is as relevant to these modern times we are in today, as it was when it took the world by storm 30 years ago.

Then it was Reagan and Thatcher, today it is Trump and May.

Then it was El Salvador and the Falklands, today it is Syria and Northern Africa.

Then it was coal miners in England fighting for survival, today it is American coal worker’s trying to survive in a fast changing world.

The similarities of then and now are fascinating which might be one the reasons the band is currently performing the album in its entirety”   Joshua Tree Tour

“This project is not about politics though. No. My goal with this project was to try and take you on a virtual tour inside an album of songs. What does a song look like if you could step inside it and walk around? That was the question that inspired this project, and I felt the amazing songs from this particular album where as good a place to start as any because the words and the sounds still seem so relevant some 30 years later.”

“One Tree Hill is a fictional place. It is a search for a mythical “American Dream” using the songs in your heart as the map. Wooden signs will help you find various points of interest, but the path is yours to choose. I hope you walk “where the streets have no name” and enjoy the journey! “ ~ Karma

“So that song is about torment, sexual but also psychological, about how repressing desires makes them stronger. The most important line is probably, ‘And you give yourself away.’ It just flipped it and it releases all the mental tension, which is when the ‘Aah-aah’ comes out. That is what giving yourself away is, musically.” – Bono, U2 By U2 2006

HOMES FOR OUR TROOPS Music Art & SL

35482933952_1ca998266f_b

I have made it to quite a few show’s Frets Nirvana has organized to help raise funds for Veterans.

I believe it used to be the wounded warrior project. A few years back Fret’s veteran fundraising has gone to Homes for Our Troops.

I have to say I am very happy about this change, Homes for Our troops is an organization I often support in my First Life.

I was a Military brat growing up and I have Military men in my Life. Homes for our Troops is a wonderful organization that .90 cents on the dollar collected goes back in to the project. Once someone becomes disabled due to serving our country it is very hard for them not to become depressed. Unfortunately, Americans can be very rough on her Hero’s. I am so glad there is organizations like Homes for troops that help Vets Come Back home.

Kultivate is pleased to announce a Fourth of July weekend fundraiser for Homes for Our Troops, which raises money to fund homes for disabled veterans.

 July 1 – 4, 2017

Featuring  3 days of events, live performers, a special hunt, an art auction and more, with proceeds going to Homes For Our Troops.

For a full schedule of events and a list of participating artists look on the Kultivate post here on Kultivate Magazine

The events are happening here on the Kultivate sim

Inara Pey covert this with a bit more insight on her blog Living in a Modem world.

35521326151_27f3d41206_b

In Second Life, the veterans’ charity “Homes Four Our Troops,” which helps those who once served in the American Armed Forces whom have fallen on hard times by building them homes, is perhaps best known for its monthly charity at Veterans Isle, organized by musician Frets Nirvana. You can contact or see what Frets is doing on his  Facebook page.

Homes For Our Troops (HFOT) is a privately funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post – 9/11 Veterans, to enable them to rebuild their lives.

Most of these Veterans have sustained injuries including multiple limb amputations, partial or full paralysis, and/or severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). These homes restore some of the freedom and independence our Veterans sacrificed while defending our country, and enable them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives.

Since its inception in 2004, nearly 90 cents of every dollar has gone directly to our program services for Veterans. HFOT builds these homes where the Veteran chooses to live, and continues its relationship with the Veterans after home delivery to assist them with rebuilding their lives.

The HFOT staff is dedicated to these values: COMMITMENT, ACCOUNTABILITY, RESPECT, EXCELLENCE, and SERVICE.

Thank you for coming by and if you can please go donate Buy Art and bid : )
